BISHOP'S BIO & THE FIRST FAMILY

Bishop Alfreda W. Young is a native of Atlanta, Georgia, born to the late Walter Walker, Sr. and Wynona Walker. Bishop Young was nurtured in the Word under the leadership of the late Solomon Randolph at Saint Peter Baptist Church. Her pastor and spiritual father is Rev. Dr. Arthur Carson, Jr. of Springfield Baptist Church. While at Springfield Baptist Church, she served as Youth Church Minister and was also an Associate Minister.

Bishop Young is a part of the Women of Faith Ministry that started in the 1980’s, to mentor women in Atlanta and Augusta, Georgia. Bishop Young is what this generation would call a trailblazer. Being one of the first women to preach and teach in the South and among the first of women to be consecrated as a Bishop. She may be considered unorthodox, but one thing is for sure, her integrity is uncompromising.
 
She received her certificate of license on November 8, 1987 and was ordained on March 29, 1998 at Springfield Baptist Church, in Atlanta, Georgia. The Alfreda Young Ministry, Inc., birthed from the Spirit of Bishop Young, was organized in 1996. On February 14, 1999, The Alfreda Young Ministry, Inc. opened The Center of Hope Counseling Center. The Center was established as a place of refuge for persons needing and seeking counseling. On July 18, 1999, Bishop Young yielded to the voice of God and The Center of Hope Counseling Center was transformed into The Center of Hope Church, Inc.
 
Since this time, Bishop Young has mentored many women, ministers, and pastors. She was honored on July 28, 2001 by the Center of Hope Church, for her mentoring service.

Bishop Young was educated in the Atlanta Public Schools and graduated Cum Laude from the Beulah Heights University, where she holds a an Associate and Bachelor of Arts Degree. She pursued additional education at Luther Rice Seminary in Lithonia, Georgia. Bishop Young is a licensed teacher of the Evangelist Training Association.

She is also a licensed Clinical and Pastoral Counselor. She is a professional member of the National Counselors Association and the Agape Christian Counseling Center in Sarasota, Florida in which she is an alumna. 
 
On May 2, 2009, Delta Epsilon Chi National Honor Society of the Commission on Accreditation of the Association for Biblical Higher Education inducted Bishop Alfreda Walker Young as an Honorary Member from Beulah Heights University. This honorary membership was received for 10 years of outstanding work in the field of ministry.

Bishop Young has written four books/booklets entitled:” Being a Good Steward” and “Getting Past the Hurt”. Her third publication, “A book of Prophecies” is still in print. In July 2010, Bishop Young’s fourth publication, “Are You Covered by the Plan?” was released. In February of 2012, Bishop Young released a CD entitled, “God’s Grace” which was penned to modern day music to reach our young people. Bishop Young served as a panelist on the TBN Network during the Hurricane Katrina crisis, to encourage and enlighten the victims, that God’s grace is sufficient in any situation. (“All things work together for the good of them who love the Lord, and who are called according to His purpose.)

On several occasions, Bishop Young has appeared as a special guest on Channel 57 TV Station to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

​

Bishop Young retired from the Grady Health System in August 2009. She is the Chief Executive Officer of the Alfreda Young Ministry, Inc., and the Founder/Overseer of the Center of Hope Church, Inc.
 
On July 11, 2010 Bishop Young was consecrated to the Office of Bishop by the Light of the World Interdenominational International Association (LOTW) under the prelate, Arch-Bishop Ruth W. Smith.

Bishop Young has been assigned ministry duties in the countries of South Africa and Canada, as well as, the states of Georgia and North Carolina. Bishop Young received her Doctor of Divinity degree May 2018 from St. Thomas University.

​

Bishop Young is the wife to Deacon Randy Young, mother of Elder Tisha Young, Pastor Brian Young, and proud grandmother to Jania, and Brian II., who are all faithful and dedicated servants of God.
 
Bishop Young believes in the total concept of changing man from being self-minded to kingdom minded.
